The City Mouse in Room 232

Well, the summer days have flown by and once again the school bells are ringing for me. I finally went to my classroom last week and was mortified! I think my mice friends from the camper had distant cousins who lived in the city in room 232. Oh me oh my, why do mice think that I should be their toilet maid? Needless to say, mouse poo everywhere underneath the sink in my room. A former teacher had glued things...posters maybe all over the walls in my room and the ancient cement glue would not come off. So, I have been working on that to try and make it manageable for me to stay in for 8 or more hours every day. When you see the picture of the glue goo on the window of my door, let me know if you have any ideas. Well, I'd better be off to the snore zone because 6:00 comes around so early in the morning. Who knew it was so cold at that time? :)

Wow, somebody really liked glue. I have no ideas with the removal, sorry. And I'm sorry about the mice, too. They are disgusting little creatures.

I can't believe that glue was left for you to clean up. I would personally try using a straight razor to scrape it all off.

ewwww on the mice! Just hink the sound of kids will scare them away soon.
I had some glue on the walls in Mayville. Not sure how but it was there.
I got it off with some stuff called Goof Off. I got it at Home Depot. Maybe it will work for you too.

I would just pop out the window. Is it glass? It might come out real easy. Oh ugg thats the worst glue mess. Its worse than wall paper that has to be painted over b/c it won't come off!

I should have added to the post that I tried scraping it, but it is like cement or something. I took some of it off but left a gouging hole in the wall. I also tried goof off and just stunk up my room. It wouldn't even touch the stuff. So, I think that I was able to make the walls okay to look at...from my perspective. The window on the door is a whole other situation! Thanks for your thoughts. I'll post the "after" pictures tomorrow.

Why does the new teacher have to fix the walls & clean her own room anyways?? Don't teachers do enough "after hours" work! Don't they have janitors, repairmen, etc. to take care of this kind of work - I'm not getting it!! Please help me! AND why was that "teacher" allowed to do that and then leave it? I'm really not getting it!?!?!

Chris ---- SANDPAPER for the walls. I also agree with mom, maintenance men should have taken care of this!

Hey I stopped by your room today, but you weren't there. It was about 8:30am or so. I think we are going to SHS instead :(

oh my. I stopped by Handley (the old South now) and the teachers were painting their rooms because the district can only afford the paint and not the labor. I can imagine why the janitors
(probably sould be singular as I doubt they had more than one for the whole summer) didn't take care of it. Maybe you can get your own cool posters and just hide the mess! Oh, I remember the first days of school. Exciting and anxious. I'll be praying for you. You have a hard job.

That looks like a HUGE project! I would put up some pictures, posters, or bulletin boards. Good luck.

Hey Chris,
After looking at your pictures again I'm thinking I might have had a class in that room way back when!! Hope things are going well.

If you use something petroleum-based (like Vaseline) on the glue - leave it on over night - it should soften it up so that you can scrape it off with minimal damage to the walls.
